Experience Germany - a country full of suprises awaits

Germany is a veritable sleeping giant in tourism terms. For most people, holidaying in Germany only ever comes to mind when they think of a Rhine cruise, a visit to a Christmas Market, or a visit to Munich's world-famous Oktoberfest. Obviously, all of these are great options and opportunities, but there is so much more to this fascinating country than just this limited choice. There are amazing cities, remote forests, and even beautiful beaches - even though they are at the other end of the country if you are thinking about some sort of two-centre arrangement with a trip to Switzerland.
If you are planning a driving tour particularly around Eastern Switzerland, then and interesting route from the UK could take you across France and Belgium via Lille and Liege to Aachen, where you then head southwards through Wurzburg, Ingolstadt and down towards Munich. Then dependent on the amount of time you would have at your disposal, you could head off towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and over the German-Austrian border above Seefeld, and then follow the Inn Valley from Innsbruck and heading westwards into the Voralberg and crossing the border into Switzerland around Bregenz. Alternatively, you could cross into Germany from France in the Alsace Region and head directly south taking in the beautiful Black Forest down to the Bodensee (Lake Constance), and head over the border at the amazing Rhein Falls at Schaffhausen.
As you head towards Switzerland, there are numerous places throughout Germany, where it would make sense to break your journey, either for an overnight stop or a couple of days when you can explore the surroundings a little better.
Switzerland and Germany are arch-rivals, but also friendly neighbours, so don't miss the opportunity of exploring them both. We'd love to show you how.
The Experience Switzerland Travel office is open Monday - Friday between 9.30am and 5pm, and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 1.00pm. We are closed on Sundays.
