Experience Italy - there's no other country to match

It is very hard, if not impossible, to think of any other single county that offers as many different great travel experiences as Italy. It truly has everything –iconic historical cities stunning museums and art galleries than are the envy of the world; fabulous beaches and islands, startling mountain scenery, beautiful vineyards set amongst rolling hills, and lake-land areas that will truly take your breath away...and, of course, it shares a border and common language with a significant part of Switzerland. In fact, the border between Switzerland and Italy is the longest that Switzerland shares with any of its neighbours. From driving over - or through - the St Bernard Pass connecting Martigny to Aosta in the west to the border crossing near Nauders where Austria, Switzerland and Italy all meet, there are numerous 'classic' routes through the mountains connecting both countries.
Of course, one of the best ways of experiencing the best of Switzerland and the best of Italy at the same time is with a visit to the beautiful Ticino region of Switzerland, and the great lakeside cities of Locarno, at the northern end of Lago Maggiore which the two countries share, and Lugano, on its own lake, which again is as much in Italy, as it is in Switzerland.
Perhaps more so than any of the other areas of French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland, which are in their own ways very distinct from France and Germany, the Ticino is both truly Swiss, but also truly Italian at the same time. Although you can access the region from Zurich - courtesy of one of the most spectacular journeys in Europe through the St Gotthard Pass -, the easiest way of accessing Lugano is with a flight into Milan, or, to a lesser extent, Turin, either of which would be a wonderful addition to a two-centre itinerary.
Italy and Switzerland are linked historically, culturally, and linguistically, so why not enjoy them both. We'll be delighted to show you how.
